Contemporary English Version I ask only one thing, LORD: Let me live in your house every day of my life to see how wonderful you are and to pray in your temple. Good News Translation I have asked the LORD for one thing; one thing only do I want: to live in the LORD's house all my life, to marvel there at his goodness, and to ask for his guidance. Holman Christian Standard Bible I have asked one thing from the LORD; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the LORD and seeking Him in His temple. International Standard Version I have asked.

John Douglas Lord (9 June 1941 – 16 July 2012) was an English composer, pianist, and Hammond organ player known for his pioneering work in fusing rock with classical or baroque forms, especially with Deep Purple, as well as Whitesnake, Paice Ashton Lord, The Artwoods, and The Flower Pot Men. In 1968, Lord co-founded Deep Purple, a hard rock band of which he was regarded as the leader until 1970. Together with the other members, he collaborated on most of his band's most popular songs.

Jon Lord is the most influential keyboard player in the land of heavy, no-nonsense rock ‘n’ roll. True, he hasn’t had much competition in the 20 years since the release of Deep Purple’s debut album, but you can bet every journeyman MIDI metal head brave enough to go one-on-one with a Marshall-mad guitarist can thank the Lord for paving the way. With his highly amplified Hammond organ as his trademark, Lord has created vocabulary of licks and tricks that have become the blueprint for heavy keyboard players the world over. There’s nothing duplicate the feel of the thing. You can get the sound exactly right.

First, it gradually introduces the music to the listener’s ear, acclimating them to the musical space. Second, it introduces many of the characters and themes which will play a part in the show. Third, it introduces Hamilton himself, sketching out the first 16 years of our protagonist’s life in a way that illustrates what influence these events will have on those throughout the rest of the show. When he finished, he asked me what I thought. And I said, ‘‘I think that’s the most astonishing thing I’ve ever heard in my life. ’ He had accurately condensed the first 40 pages of my book into a four-minute song.
