Re-released to coincide with International Women's Day on 8th March 2016, Songs of Ecstasy and Devotion celebrates the Italian composer Lucrezia Vizzana, whose musical accomplishments have been overlooked due to her gender. Musica Secreta, an ensemble dedicated to discovering and performing repertoire by women composers, create an exquisite sound with a performance that provides a fascinating musical insight. The publication of Vizzana's Componimenti Musicali in 1623 was a remarkable achievement having overcome the confines of both her gender and the convent to achieve renown as a composer. Musica Secreta's programmes illustrate the many faces of women musicians in the 16th and 17th centuries: courtiers, courtesans, actresses and cloistered nuns.

Songs of Faith and Devotion is the eighth studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode. It was first released on 22 March 1993 in the United Kingdom by Mute Records and a day later in the United States by Sire Records and Reprise Records. The album incorporated a more aggressive, darker rock-oriented tone than its predecessor Violator (1990), largely influenced by the emerging alternative rock and grunge scenes in the United States.
One of the many extras of the night, which really added to the entire experience, was the print outs which were handed to audience members at the door, one with the bios of the amazing artists and the other, with the English translations of the beautiful and sometimes tragic Italian sonnets, which were performed, throughout the night, so everyone could enjoy them to. their fullest. Song to song, Faith and Devotion showcases Depeche’s every, er, mode at its finest and adds a wee something - an intensifier, a surprise, the shocking but not unpleasant sound of frontman Dave Gahan actually singing. I Feel You has the twangy stomp of Personal Jesus ; it’s ecstatically danceable. The soulful Walking in My Shoes does great things with backup singers and resentment. Get Right With Me experiments with scratching and chiming guitars, while One Caress sounds like the show stopper from a lachrymose Broadway musical
