Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music is the sixth studio album by the British rock band Hawkwind, released in 1976. It reached No. 33 on the UK album charts. The title makes references to old science fiction magazines (Astounding and Amazing Stories), the concept being that each piece of music (and its title) would be interpreted as an individual science fiction story.

This album was the first ever Hawkwind album I actually listened to, but admittedly I was only 7 at the time Digging: Allegaeon - Apoptosis. dante1991 April 17th 2013. Astounding Sounds is a huge departure in sound from Warriors. There is some jazz influence and some punk. Calvert is back and the lyrics he pens are some of Hawkwind's very best.

Hawkwind was at a difficult transitional point in 1976 when the band recorded Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music. Bassist Lemmy Kilmister had been fired after a drug bust the year before, and the band had been forced to scramble for a replacement, eventually hiring ex-Pink Fairies member Paul Rudolph.
