Inspired by her study with Edgard Varèse and his work with pre-recorded sounds, the composition features whales and other sound sources (including bull, insect, and Chinese cymbal), some of which were recorded by zoologists and others by McMillan. These are interspersed with her text, which is in English and French, in six verses. Liner notes contain McMillan’s notes on the piece, the first performance, and a brief biography.

Whale II is made with Humpback Whale, Bull, Insect, and Chinese cymbal sound-sources. Whale III is made with Humpback Whale, Bottlenose Dolphin, Chinese Gong, Insects, Whitehanded Gibbon monkey, birds, including a South American Bell Bird, geese, and water sound-sources. Includes sheet with descriptive notes.

The Killer Wail is a special weapon in Splatoon. When activated, the Killer Wail projects a series of concentric circles in its intended path for a moment before firing massive sound waves in the user's ink color shortly after. They splat any enemies they touch, ignoring buildings or other obstacles. While the Killer Wail does not spread any ink of its own unless an opponent is splatted, it is useful for gaining or keeping control of the stage.
