Fantasie Kv 475 & Sonate. has been added to your Cart. The Fantasie is a perfectly proportioned combination of tragic intensity (without a trace of brooding) and blazing outbursts of virtuosity. There isn't a single phrase that could be improved upon; and the same can be said for the K457 sonata. The K576, which was among the few Mozart sonatas Arrau favored in recital (it's also one of the first things he recorded for RCA in 1941), is similar to the 1964 Tanglewood rendition, although a touch less emphatic. However, the later k576 is one third of one of the greates Mozart piano recordings ever, also including the Sonata K570 and a shattering Adagio in B Minor Adagio k540. The k332 here is the most welcome surprise // the Icon Beethoven sonatas.

Together with Jörg Demus and Paul Badura-Skoda, Gulda formed what became known as the "Viennese troika". Although most famous for his Mozart and Beethoven interpretations, Gulda also performed the music of J. S. Bach (often on clavichord), Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Debussy and Ravel. His recordings of Bach's Well Tempered Clavier are well regarded by collectors. Mozart - Klaviersonate D-Dur, Fantasie C-Moll, Klaviersonate B-Dur released: 1990.
