Age has not stopped Primus from putting together a really memorable, cohesive record, from start to finish. As with all good Primus, it's goofy at times, which is not a knock on it at all. The production is perhaps a bit low & overdone, but it works well, especially with Les Claypool's bass parts. The vocals range from from soulful to goofy to downright creepy, which keeps things interesting. Standouts include Eternal Consumption Engine, Hoinfodaman, Eyes of the Squirrel, Lee Van Cleef, and Jilly's On Smack. As for the vinyl itself, the translucent green looks fairly cool, and the.

Primus, one of the weirdest bands to march the planet Earth. I probably wouldn't deny that, due to the fact that Les Claypool founded this band. Honestly, I would not. When they went hiatus from their studio albums, It kind of sucked. I love their albums, and we all have to admit, we were dying for another. Then Green Naugahyde came along. Probably their darkest record currently. We were probably all expecting Les's voice to sound the same.

Green Naugahyde is the end result of taking it back to the old school ( Eternal Consumption Engine ), the chronicled echoes of a fisherman’s mind fuck long forgotten ( Last Salmon Man ), plus a taste of honorary personal reflection stained with pork soda ( Jilly’s on Smack ). In truth, there are few better ways to describe the definitive Primus sound than funky nightmare rock, and the album cover echoing Billy from Saw with a little Moral Orel stirred in conveys that pretty well. Everything between self-deprecating humor ( HOINFODAMAN ) and a dose of Lacquerhead with the Frizzle Fry touch.
Green Naugahyde is the seventh studio album by alternative rock group Primus, released by ATO Records and Prawn Song on September 12, 2011 in Europe, and on September 13, 2011 in the United States.
